Enjoyed this with the kidsGreatest Heroes in an interesting series of animated programs, all include an introduction by Charlton Heston on the story we are about to see. The animation is good quality, full hand drawn 2D cel animation without shortcuts. In the middle of each episode in this series, they usually have a cutaway of another story from the bible, done in computer animation to contrast the two stories. We bought this story, Daniel and the Lions Den, and the Story of Jonah. Jonah is my favorite, but this was good. All versions of animated and live action stray from the source material and are not accurate, just like non-biblical movies are not accurate to the book they are based on. It is more of an issue in a biblical story as we all worry about people getting their facts wrong, but it is hard to avoid. Film makers balance what will make a story flow for the viewer, especially kids. In this “Greatest Heroes” version, most of the main characters are very young, perhaps to relate to kids more. But they are appealing characters that draw the kids in. This episode has great moral lessons, and if you have issues about the changes from scripture, always discuss the differences afterwords to your kids as we did. No extras on the DVD, sound and picture quality were good, no problems with playing the disc or the menu. I recommend buying this DVD.

Great valueYou can’t go wrong with this when the price is so low. The animation quality is like that typically seen in basic Saturday morning cartoons, which is good enough for kids. What I like is that all the videos in this series give all the important details of the story, rather than giving a shallow, watered-down version as is usually the case in children’s stories. These will entertain preschoolers up through junior high and the script is very closely based on the scriptural account. The only reason I didn’t give this series a 5 is that each video has a hokey song that could definitely have been left out, but for such a low price and good script, I can overlook that.

good content and pretty much on targetOverall the story line was mostly Biblical. I had to explain to my Sunday School class that the characters, as named, that were sent into Jericho were fictional names, as they kept wanting to tell me the actual names of the spies. Overall, good content and pretty much on target. Thank you

Excellent way to learn the bibleI have 3 grandchildren from 1 to 3. I put these dvd stories in my car video when we are driving and they can’t take their eyes off of them. They love the stories and are amazed. I hear them as I am driving and look in the mirror at them mezmorized. They have cute songs with them too. I am very pleased. I even lent a few to a friend with a 5 year old that loves them too. I have gotten a few more of them and hope to continue to get them all.

Nice taleMy children love this movie. We ordered several from this company, and they are nice for the price you pay. They don’t compare to the blockbuster The Prince of Egypt, but they relay the bible quite accurately, in a child-friendly manner. The producers are also careful not to show violence too, if that’s a concern for some parents. You never see any bloodshed, or any weapon piercing someone.

A story of courage and the faithfulness of GodThe production is very attractive to children. My 5 and 7 years old have watched the different stories over and over. Before going to school they used to watch useless TV, with this videos, the Bible stories are sinking in and giving us lots of opportunity to talk of the History of the People of God… a great tool for the non-reading ages. The stories stick to the Bible version, not distorted or invented… It’s the Bible illustrated… and it shall never pass!

Great video with accurate Bible factsI purchased this dvd along with Jonah and the whale (part of the Greatest Heroes and Legends of the Bible)very sceptically. I was debating about another Bible series videos which has more actual videos but is much more costly. When I first watched it with my 2 1/2 yr old, I found the animation well done. The actual events in the movie were fairly accurate. Charlton Heston gives a brief synopsis before the video. My daughter loves this video and we plan to purchase more in this series.

One of the greatest battles. If you have toddlers or teenagers, MUST GET IT, especially if they don’t get to read the bible much. It will teach them what happened back in biblical times. It is all true also. If you know the bible, then you will know that this is true.

Good movieGreat movie to start teaching your children about the bible. Not as accurate to the scriptures that’s why I gave it 4 stars
